Large control on the A1: 60% of the trucks with defects!

An impressive spectacle occurred on Thursday, November 14, 2024, on Autobahn 1 in the Harburg district! A gigantic control of the regional control group of the Lüneburg police department took place at the “Stellheide” rest area, in which the officers put their paces in both directions in both directions. Around 50 extremely trained police officers and support from various authorities made this day a real mission!

In a highly exciting six -hour campaign, incredible 151 vehicles and vehicle combinations were checked. Of these, 91 vehicles had a whopping defects, which corresponds to an alarming complaint rate of 60.25 %! In 22 cases it was even so serious that the vehicles had to be excluded from the onward journey due to massive technical weaknesses or overloading. A highlight of the controls was a heavy caterpillar excavator that was traveling with 63 tons without the driver having the necessary permits - a significant disregard for the regulations!

But that wasn't all! When checking a semitrailer, the officers became aware of an unsafe gait, which made them puzzled. A breath alcohol value of fabulous 1.12 per thousand was found! Measures were taken immediately: a blood sample and ensuring the driver's license had the consequences. The irresponsible driver was not allowed to continue his journey, and those responsible agree - such controls are essential to seriously increase security on our streets.

Future controls by the regional control group are already being planned and promised to once again focus on the level of safety on the streets. These determined measures clearly show how important the regular review in commercial passenger and property power is!
