Energy transition at home: Free online lectures in the Harburg district!

Landkreis Harburg, Deutschland - The question of how houses can be heated more environmentally friendly and cheaper employs many owners in the Harburg district. In view of the increasing energy costs and the need to reduce CO2 emissions, the focus is on the search for innovative heating solutions. A promising approach that experts recommend is the use of heat pumps that are operated with electricity from renewable sources. This technology has already been established as a standard in new buildings, but it can also also be used economically and efficiently in older buildings.

To help home owners to make the right decision, the climate protection department of the Harburg district organizes free online lectures in cooperation with the Lower Saxony Consumer Center and the Lower Saxony Climate Protection and Energy Agency. These webinars offer comprehensive information on various heating systems and their applicability especially for old buildings.

online lectures on the heat transition

The first webinar takes place on October 21, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is entitled "How can I optimize my heating?". In this session, basic knowledge is conveyed, including questions such as: Which heating systems are possible in the future? Is a heat pump suitable for my specific building? What do I have to consider if I want to optimally operate my current heating until the changeover? The participants also have the opportunity to discuss directly with experienced energy consultants in smaller groups and clarify individual concerns.

Climate protection manager Oliver Waltenrath emphasizes that many citizens are very interested in switching their heating operation to renewable energies. Nevertheless, there are uncertainties regarding the feasibility of heat pumps in existing buildings. "We would like to support with objective information and encourage citizens to make informed decisions for their home ownership," continued Waltenrath.

After the first lecture, two more events follow: On November 11, the topic "Works a heat pump in my house?" Treated, and on December 9th, owners can find out about "solar power from their own roof". These lectures offer a valuable opportunity to find out more about current developments in energy supply and to ask questions directly.

Participation in these free online lectures requires registration that is possible through the virtual energy agency of the Harburg district. This platform, accessible at www.energiewegweiser.de, not only offers information about the lectures, but also additional resources on climate protection and energy issues. The “Funding Check” and “PhotovoltaiCheck” programs are particularly important for those who are planning renovations. The funding check lists all available funding options, while the photovoltaic check determines in just a few steps whether the roof is suitable for a solar power system and what yield it can bring.

For further questions or if necessary for support, climate protection manager Oliver Waltenrath and his team are available, which can be contacted on 04171 - 6936601. These comprehensive offers from the Harburg district could significantly support the upcoming energy transition.
