Finally digital ads: Lüneburg's bus passengers are no longer waiting!
Lüneburg, Deutschland - Lüneburg is finally approaching the introduction of a digital passenger information system (DFI) that has been under discussion for years. In the coming year, 2025, the urgently needed real -time ads will be installed at 15 stops in the urban area. These were once announced for 2018, but there were always delays due to tender problems and unclear funding. Bastian Hagmaier, Hanseatic Council's mobility area, said in the mobility committee that the tender has now been completed and the order was awarded. The competent authority has undertaken to ensure both the installation and maintenance of these ads, such as the Landeszeitung reported.
As part of the project, a total of 80 stops in the Lüneburg, Harburg and Stade counties are equipped, but the city of Lüneburg has already anticipated the initial measures to improve the information refund. In order to find quick solutions until the DFI displays have been commissioned, the city has proactively set up static overview boards at the central omnibus station (ZOB). Mayor Ulrich Mädge expressed his dissatisfaction with the slow implementation of the DFI system and emphasized that the city could not wait for those responsible in the district to make more speed, such as Uelzener press reported.
The real -time ads should show passengers exactly when the next bus will arrive and inform them about any deviations from the timetable. This is particularly important for travelers who do not have the HVV app that this information already offers. At the same time, the city has already commissioned further signs to improve the orientation for waiting on the ZOB, which should happen in April 2021 at the latest, so that the bus users can better recognize the direction to the city center.
