Kiez pub Zur Ritze celebrates 50 years with Axel Schulz and stars!

Hamburg. in the legendary boxing pub "Zur Ritze" is celebrated-and in monumental style! On Thursday, this Hamburg institution will be 50 years old and the preparations are going in full swing!

"Axel, first round!", It echoed through the holy halls of the crack when the ex-box professional Axel Schulz (55) and the pub owner Carsten Marek (64) went into the ring for the official press date. It's not about a competition, but about the festive anniversary. This cult pub has been the meeting point for drinkers and boxers alike for five decades. The big event is opened at the Reeperbahn with a spectacular red carpet show at 6 p.m. when Marek runs with a beer carriage and heralds the celebrations.

The dark past of the Ritze

The Ritze - known for legendary stories and their connection to the red light scene of Hamburg - has a moving past. Marek speaks openly about "unsightly things" from the 80s and 90s, such as the attack on the "Chinese-Fritz" pimp, which was brutally killed in the pub. Marek himself was the boss of the dreaded Marek gang in his recent years, which was tough with a hard hand over the neighborhood. Today he only leads a brothel, but continues to operate the dazzling pub, in which Schulz once fought fame in the boxing cellar.

The connection between Schulz and the Ritze is particularly impressive. After his fight against George Foreman in 1995 - even if the decision is still controversial - he had the symbolic world championship belt hanged in the crack. "You can drink here and you will be tortured below," jokes Schulz and proudly shows his gift that many young Hamburgers admire today.

star rain to celebrate the evening

For the big anniversary celebration, top players from the box scene and the entertainment industry are expected. Former world champions Felix Sturm and Arthur Abraham will be present as well as TV size Hinnerk Baumgarten and the recently dismissed rapper Gzuz. A total of around 1,000 guests are expected to celebrate the special evening, which will go into the history of the crack. And that's just the beginning! Marek has also announced an exciting comedy show with "Kiezlife Live", which will soon start in the pub. One thing is certain: the crack remains an inseparable part of Hamburg's nightlife and will continue to write stories!
