Hamburg becomes a test field: Autonomous collecting taxis start 2025!
The future of driving is within reach! The mobility service provider Moia plans to bring autonomous collecting taxis onto the streets in Hamburg from mid -2025. In an exciting test operation, 25 self -driving shuttles will initially promote passengers. This innovative concept of ride pooling enables several passengers to share a vehicle and thus travel more environmentally friendly.
The big vision? At the end of 2026, the offer should go into regular operation! Christian Senger, head of Volkswagen Admt, describes autonomous driving as a "jump into the absolute future". For this revolutionary step, the VW ID. Buzz ad, which is equipped with the latest technology. With 13 cameras, nine lidar sensors and five radars, the vehicle captures its surroundings in real time. Moia boss Sascha Meyer describes the new vehicles as a "gamuchanger" for mobility.
test drives and security measures
The test drives with the ID. Buzz AD started in Munich in 2021, followed by Hamburg in early 2023 and even in Austin, USA. During this test phases there was always a security driver on board who could intervene in an emergency. A security driver will also ride in the coming phase in Hamburg to ensure the highest security standards.
Moia has been active in Hanover since 2018 and has been active in Hamburg since 2019 and has already promoted over eleven million passengers in the Hanseatic city. With around 900 drivers, the company ensures that mobility in the city remains efficient and sustainable.
