Hamburg starts Europe's first autonomous bus network - future of mobility!

Hamburg, Deutschland - From the middle of next year, Hamburg will become a revolutionary traffic development! The city will be the first in Europe to start with 20 autonomous minibuses. The traffic authority and the Hochbahn have now determined the test area, which extends from the Elbe to the city park and includes the districts of Schlump and Wandsbek. An exciting step into the future, which is funded by the federal government with 26 million euros! Traffic senator Anjes Tjarks (Greens) announced: "We start between the city park and Elbe, between Schlump and Wandsbek. So in downtown Hamburg and where it is most complicated for the vehicles."

Around 300,000 people live in this 37 square kilometer test area, who will soon have to get used to the futuristic minibuses. In order to ensure the safety of passengers, security drivers will initially be on board. Tjarks emphasizes: "It is very important to us that the topic of security comes first." The first trips will initially only take place with selected test users. The vehicles from Moia and the Hochbahn, including four-seater and Holon minibuses for up to 15 people, are intended to prove that they are more attentive than humans.

A look into the future of local transport

Hamburg has big plans! By 2030, thousands of these autonomous vehicles are to be used in local transport. The Hanseatic city wants to persuade drivers to voluntarily abolish their cars and offers an attractive alternative with the driverless minibuses. Federal Transport Minister Wissing (FDP) recently presented a symbolic check to the elevator, Moia and the bus manufacturer Holon to support this innovative step. The future of traffic in Hamburg has started - and it is autonomous!
