Hamburg: exhibition halls are again becoming a winter home for refugees

The giant rooms of the exhibition halls in Hamburg are again transformed into emergency accommodations. Once again, the Hanseatic residents set up quarters for refugees to get over the winter. A total of 300 people will soon be looking for refuge there, while the construction work for new accommodations continues. On December 3rd it should be so: The first refugees are moving in here, this should be your home by January 16 at the latest.

This means that in the coming cold months many children will spend their days and Christmas in the exhibition halls. The exhibition halls are not a permanent solution. In mid -January, it is planned, a resettlement of the residents will take place to other accommodations. "The main thing is to temporarily relieve our other locations a little," explains Arnold. Until then, in Hamburg you hope for the completion of construction work in Bahrenfeld, where new accommodations are urgently needed.
