The Stormarn district is particularly striking, where over 400 burglaries were recorded, including approx. 140 in Ahrensburg. In Segeberg and Pinneberg, burglaries often take place along the A7 and A23 motorways. With 225 burglaries per 100,000 inhabitants, Neumünster has the highest number.
burglary protection and perpetrator structure
On the occasion of the "Day of Burglary Protection" on October 27, 2024, under the motto "One more hour for more security", the State Police Schleswig-Holstein will start an educational campaign. People are informed about burglary protection, especially since the number of cases in 2022 and 2023 gets back. The increase is associated with the beginning of the dark season, which is considered a high season for burglaries.
The perpetrators often come from professional groups who operate from Eastern Europe, the Baltic States and South America. They act from anonymous accommodations in major cities and commit crimes in the surrounding regions. Burglars usually use simple lever method, and almost half of the break -ins remains in the test stage, often due to good mechanical fuse technology. The police offer citizens the opportunity to seek neutral and independent of prevention officers.
The burglar statistics show that a total of 2,249 burglaries and 385 dissolved cases were recorded in 2021. In 2022 the number rose to 2,675 burglaries, with 400 cases being informed. In 2022, most of the break-in cases were recorded in Germany in North Rhine-Westphalia, with 23,528 cases.
