forces used after storm
Before, on August 10, 2024, the Hamburg fire brigade was called for a massive deployment due to a strong storm that ensured about 900 missions. Especially in the districts of Wandsbek to Bergedorf, around 80 of the 86 volunteer fire departments had to be used for hours. From 4:30 p.m., numerous missions were reported due to floods, fallen trees and other weather -related damage. The fire brigade efficiently coordinated these missions by dispatching special volunteer fire brigade units to the rescue control center to filter and prioritize the incoming emergency calls, such as Feuerwehr-hamburg.de
In several areas, especially in Billstedt, the basement and underground garages had to be emptied with high -performance pumps to minimize damage. Despite the challenges, the number of injuries remained low, which underlined the skills and the use of the fire brigade. The security of the residents in the city was thus maintained, while the emergency services worked tirelessly to efficiently cope with the increased number of emergencies.
