Grand price of the southern wine road: cycling races comes to Alsace!

The Grand Prize of the Southern Wine Route, an important part of the cycling Bundesliga, will also take place in neighboring Alsace in 2025. District Administrator Dietmar Seefeldt announced this cross -border project during the New Year's reception in Maikammer. He informed that the racetrack for cyclists will be expanded in the coming year and that the race will take place on April 5, 2025.

The RV Vorwärts Offenbach organizes the event in cooperation with the district. The exact course of the route, which is supposed to attract Bundesliga drivers and young athletes, is still in the planning phase. A special attraction is this in everyone, in which hobby athletes can compete over distances of 50 and 100 kilometers.

The route of the 100 km round leads for the first time through France, whereby the corresponding permits are obtained. The 50 km round comprises 310 meters of altitude, while the vertical meters of the 100 km round have not yet been determined. The route is initially flat and runs through vineyards, without long steep climbs.

In addition, there will be an abbreviation for slower participants on the 100 km route, which shorten the distance to about 85 km. The march tables will be available for both distances. There will be several evaluation groups, including under the age of 18, over 50 years and specific categories for men and women.

The process stipulates that the 50 km race starts at 10:35 a.m., followed by the 100 km race at 1:05 p.m. The registration deadlines and fees vary depending on the distance, whereby registrations can be made at reduced prices by December 31, 2024. Every participant receives a bottle of Palatinate wine as a participant gift.
