Fasnet start in Schwäbisch Gmünd: celebrations and events!

On Monday, January 6th, Schwäbisch Gmünd celebrates the three-king day, which is introducing a long weekend. Many people in the region enjoy a four -day working week. The reason for the celebrations is also the beginning of the Fasnet, which will be opened on Sunday, January 5 with the event "Wefzg Fauslassa" in Wetzgau.

Fasnets events in Schwäbisch Gmünd

The program for the Fasnet is extensive and extends until February. The preparations for four major events were presented on February 1st. The 36th splendor meeting of the Gmender Fasnet will take place on Friday, February 3. There is a varied program with dance performances, guggen music and appearances by Fasnet celebrities. Meeting president Robin Kucher, the youngest session president in Germany, will lead the event. The motto "Märchenwald" brings a festive decoration into play.

On Saturday, 11th and Sunday, February 12th, the 38th International Guggenmusik meeting is on the program, in which 20 Guggenkapellen with a total of around 800 musicians from Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria and Germany take part. The unofficial start will take place on Friday, February 10th with the Guggenball. The Fasnets Tuesday, February 21, is celebrated with the large 47th Gmünder Fasnets parade, in which 95 groups take part.

In addition, the Christmas tree-wide throwing tournament of the TSGV Rechberg will take place on Saturday, January 4, in which 28 teams compete for first place. The event begins at 3:30 p.m. on the Rechberger sports field and ends with an "after-litter party" including live music and meals.

The Evangelical parishes of Obergröningen and Untergröningen merge, which will have follow from 2026. On January 6, a service will take place in the Christuskirche Untergröningen, which is under the motto "Everything in a pot" and ends with a subsequent stew food.
