EU proceed against Temu: Consumer rights are on the brink!
Berlin, Deutschland - Berlin (ots)
Excitement in the digital trade world: The EU Commission has initiated a formal procedure against Temu! The reason? There are serious allegations that the platform is used by dealers to sell illegal products. A real scandal! Temu is also accused of consciously using addictive designs that put buyers into a shopping frenzy. This is not enough, the platform should not provide important data enough for research.
Gero Furchheim, the President of the Federal Association of E-Commerce and Shipping Trade, is anything but happy about these conditions! He praises the decision of the EU Commission as a clear step towards protecting consumers. "It is time that the Digital Services Act means that these violations are carried out!" Says horror. The responsibility lies with the platforms to ensure that illegal products are immediately removed and that other providers are not listed again.

Furchheim calls for clear controls by the EU so that the obligation to ensure security when selling and advertising is observed. "The multitude of buying incentives on platforms such as Temu have to be examined exactly! It is about whether these practices inadmissibly influence consumers." It remains to be seen whether Temu actually discloses his data transparently for research. According to Furchheim, the rules must apply to everyone.
