Investigations against Engel & Völkers: Fire self -employment in sight!

Bielefeld, Deutschland - The renowned real estate agent Engel & Völkers sees serious allegations. According to current reports from Tagesschau and FAZ are investigations into space. The judiciary has already searched 18 offices of the company, including the office in Bielefeld. In this large -scale campaign, 300 civil servants were deployed to collect information on possible social security fraud and unpaid wage taxes on behalf of the public prosecutor.

The accusation is that real estate agents have pretended to be self -employed, while they should actually act as a sham self -employed employee. According to the investigation, it is often the case that these brokers are integrated directly into the corporate structure and receive instructions. However, Engel & Völkers has emphasized that it was fully cooperated with the authorities and that the facts have already been legally checked. Spokeswoman Kirsten Best-Werbunat indicated that the exams of the independent activity were “not yet complained about”.

Investigations with far -reaching consequences

The complications around Engel & Völkers are created in an environment in which the company employs more than 12,000 brokers, which together bring in a sales commission of 1.3 billion euros. While the allegations do not directly endanger the company, they still throw a shadow on the image in an industry that is strongly shaped by personal trust. The current investigations show how sensitive the topic of sham self -employment in Germany is, especially in areas with a high proportion of freelancers.
