Disappointment for Austria: just a gold medal at home World Cup!
Austria's ice stock athletes had great expectations at the home world championship in Kapfenberg, but the result disappointed. If you look at the medal yield, you can hardly use the word "success" - only a gold medal from twelve competitions was achieved. Markus Rothberger from Winzendorf and his teammates Patrick Solböck, Mario Weingartmann and Kevin Kronewetter secured the gold medal in the target team competition and referred the German team to second place with a four-point lead. However, this brilliant performance stands out in a disappointing overall context, in which the red-white-red team in the medal mirror fell behind Germany and Italy, such as the Kleine Zeitung reported.
The President of the Austrian Cisstal Sports Association, Silvia Tschiltsch, left no doubt that the disappointment is great. "You don't need to talk about anything, we are disappointed," she said, emphasizing the intensive preparation that the athletes went through. Despite these preparations, everything just didn't go according to plan. The target of six titles was clearly missed, and the association's management is already planning to examine the causes of this disappointment. The home world championship, which was to offer a chance of fame and honor, became a bitter pill for the hosts, such as Noen reported.
