Eimsbüttel will be more pedestrian -friendly: conversion starts next week!

In the coming week, Eimsbüttel will become the scene of exciting renovation measures that should make the district more pedestrian -friendly! Citizens can look forward to wider sidewalks and safer road crossings - an urgently needed improvement for all pedestrians!

The Kottwitzstraße becomes the first goal of the construction work. Here the parking situation is fundamentally changed: parking areas are reduced by 26 percent to expand the sidewalk. Cross -parking cars and bicycles that often block access will soon be a thing of the past. Instead, vehicles are only allowed to park lengthways, sometimes even half on the sidewalks. A new parking space for people with mobility restrictions is also being set up. The redesign should be completed in three to four months, while the road remains usable as a one -way street.

Schwenckestrasse: Security for primary school children!

But that's not all! The Schwenckestrasse is also upgraded. This creates a barrier-free crossing aid near the Wolfgang Borchert School, which is intended to significantly improve the visibility of pedestrians. The road is narrowed to ensure the security of primary school children. During the construction work, the Schwenckestrasse between Odenwaldstrasse and number 80 is completely closed for about three weeks. The diversion for cycling and car traffic is via the Stellinger Weg, Hellkamp and Clasingstraße, while pedestrians can continue to use the sidewalks.

These measures are not only important, but also urgently necessary to increase the safety and quality of life in Eimsbüttel. Citizens can look forward to a more pedestrian -friendly future!
