Building bridges: 10. China Day strengthens German-Chinese economic relationships

An unprecedented event took place on November 18 in Frankfurt: the "10th China Day" of the Euro Finance Week. Here over 250 top-class representatives of both countries gathered to discuss the future of German-Chinese economic and trade relationships. The atmosphere was characterized by sustainability, stability and credibility - factors that in the opening speeches by Huang Yiyang, the Consul General China, and Dr. Sabine Mauderer, Vice President of the Deutsche Bundesbank. The Consul General confirmed China's commitment to multilateralism and free trade in an increasingly challenging world.

The highlights included revealing lectures and exciting discussions that illuminated the current state and the perspectives of economic cooperation. The Vice Mayor of Shanghai, Hua Yuan, presented the important role of the financial metropolis and encouraged European investors to take advantage of the opportunities in the booming market of Shanghais. Experts like Dr. Lue Wu of PWC gave valuable insights into the challenges of a low interest rate environment and the teachings from Germany. The honor of the Bank of China, which was awarded for its outstanding achievements in the internationalization of the Renminbi and around the Financial Square Frankfurt, was particularly remarkable.

The pulse of finances beats between Frankfurt and Shanghai

The event not only addressed the current market developments, but also the three future drivers of the German-Chinese trade relationships: Cleanetech, Meditech and electronic equipment. Managing Director of Bank of China, Zhang Xiaodong, proudly announced that the Frankfurt branch was the first Chinese bank branch in Germany and is now 35 years old. These successes and the continuous expansion of its services have catapulted the bank into the top position of German-Chinese economic relationships.

In a final panel, like the two financial centers, Frankfurt and Shanghai, a harmonious cooperation were able to develop. Ulrich Caspar, President of the IHK Frankfurt, reported on her successful collaborations. In the awarding of the "Special Award", the event culminated to the Bank of China for its outstanding services to Frankfurt and remarkable Renminbi services in Germany. The "10th China Day" impressively demonstrated the dynamics and the potential in relationships between the two nations.
