Saving electricity in the household: How to expose the nasty power guzzlers!

household appliances are real power guzzlers! Energy expert Sören Demandt warns: Devices in stand-by mode cost up to 144 euros annually for single-family houses and 84 euros for apartment buildings. In order to reduce energy costs, a conscious handling of electrical devices is essential. With special electricity measuring devices that cost less than 50 euros, households can precisely monitor their consumption. These devices help to uncover hidden savings potential, for example when devices are completely switched off instead of leaving them in stand-by. Demandt also recommends using switchable sockets - they can be activated like analog timer and ensure that the power consumption is reduced.

Electricity consumption in the household

The consumer center has published a detailed electricity consumption-table which shows which household appliance pulls how much power. A refrigerator of the A ++ class needs about 350 kWh annually, while an old dryer likes to use over 300 kWh. The conscious use of energy -efficient devices helps to press the electricity bill and protect the environment. For example, modern washing machines in the A ++ class have significantly lower consumption values than the outdated models.

There are many ways of how consumers can optimize their costs. The use of efficient devices via the energy efficiency classes A +++ to D is the key. It is not only worth paying attention to the purchase price, but also for long -term operating costs. A significant energy saving can also be achieved through regular maintenance and the exchange of outdated parts. A look at your own electricity consumption is therefore not only a financial relief, but also a sense of responsibility towards the environment.
