Uslar beer Old Town Dunkel voted the beer of the month!
In an outstanding award, the Bergbräu private brewery in Uslar received the award for its "old town dark". This beer specialty was awarded by the largest German consumer association in the beer area, the Tastier-club.de, the title "Beer of September 2024". This is not only a local success, but also an important step on the way to the "Beer of 2024", for the "old town of dark" is now nominated among the last twelve candidates.
The craft brewery, which is characterized by a revised recipe for the "old town of dark", has also emerged as an innovator in beer production. Lars Blötz, the master brewer, emphasizes the advantage of traditional brewing, which is characterized by manual control over the brewing process. "We have optimized the taste of our old town dark," explains Thomas Koch, the assistant of the management, proudly about the latest creation.
unique taste
The newly designed "old town dark" impresses both visually and in terms of taste. The mahogany color of the beer already expresses the full-bodied body in the glass. Beer sommelier Frank Winkel emphasizes that the creamy foam is firm and stable and the aromas of freshly roasted bread and caramel stand out in particular on the first sip. "In addition, fine coffee notes flash through that underline the complexity of the beer," says Winkel.
The award is particularly remarkable because the competition is enormous in Germany. Frank Winkel estimates that around 1465 breweries produce over 7000 different beer brands. "To try each of these beers, you would have to spend around 20 years of drinking another every day," he explains with a smile.
The Bergbräu brewery is not only known for its "old town dark". Your product range currently comprises eight different beers, including seasonal specialties such as Bockbier. In addition, the company has also included lemonade in its range since this year. "We are proud that we are unique in the region with our non -alcoholic variant of the old town," adds Thomas Koch.
The brewery has developed a permanent place in the regional beer landscape because it mainly sells its beers in the districts of Northeim, Holzminden and Göttingen. Despite the growing competition from non -alcoholic beers, the demand for the traditional barley juice remains unbroken and the brewery is working to preserve the traditional values of the brewing craft and at the same time integrate innovations. For this special performance and quality in the brewing process, the Bergbräu brewery also receives deserved recognition in the industry.
In the middle of this success, it remains to be seen which other factors will contribute to increasing popularity and the success of the “old town of dark”, while the brewery continues to combine its traditions and innovations. For more information on this remarkable beer, visit www.hna.de .
