Neutor lock: New traffic regulation for Salzburg's old town decided!

With great determination, the Salzburg town council decided to calm the traffic around the New goal, whereby the passage through this important tunnel will be severely restricted in the future. The measure, which is supported by the parties SPÖ, Citizens' List, KPÖ Plus and Neos, is to come into force in 2026, parallel to the renovation work during the Salzburg Festival. This was confirmed today at the meeting of the local council and also in the planning committee of the city, as meindezirk.at

a step towards quality of life

Mayor Bernhard Auinger expressed himself optimistically about the effects of the initiative, which aims to increase the quality of life in the old town. However, the opponents of the measure, including the ÖVP, List of Salz and FPÖ, have culminated their concerns about consent. The lock of the Neutor will not only apply during the construction work, but should also remain beyond. Residents, taxis and public transport are excluded from the new regulation, such as Salzburg24

A provisional roundabout is also set up on Hildmannplatz to improve the traffic situation. The planned encounter zone between Neutor and Museumsplatz is intended to include several historical places, which will increase the quality of stay for residents and tourists. A design competition is carried out in this context in order to make urban planning forward -looking.

The city administration has also assured that the effects of the passage restrictions have precisely monitored in order to make possible adjustments to other traffic areas. These far -reaching measures are part of a long -term strategy for steering the traffic flow and increasing the quality of life in downtown Salzburg.
