New life for the Tübingen slaughterhouse: cafeteria withdraws!

The Shedhalle broke out in Tübingen since the Wilhelmstraße canteen has moved back into its original building. According to swp.de have been empty under the sheddach since July 26, 2024 when the last food expenses took place. For years, the Shedhalle served as an interim scan, to relieve the original cafeteria, which was closed for several years during the renovation and conversions. This renovation now aims to reopen the Wilhelmstrasse cafeteria for the winter semester 2024/25. The cafeteria, which acts as a central supply point, will shine in new splendor and offer the students an expanded culinary offer.

The end of a chapter

The move back to Wilhelmstrasse will take place on July 29, 2024, which marks the end of the temporarily used Shedhalle. Edith Hein, managing director of the Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim, is pleased with the return: "The Wilhelmstrasse cafeteria is our central supply and service facility on the valley campus." From July 22nd to 23rd, 2024, special campaign days should take place in order to complete the cafeteria in the Shedhalle and give the guests the opportunity to enjoy popular dishes, such as lenses with spaetzle or currywurst with fries. The cafeteria in the old town, on the other hand, will not take a break in the summer and continue to be open, while the Cafeteria Clubhaus opens for the last time on July 26, 2024 under the direction of the Studierendenwerk before it is handed over to new hands, as reported to my-stuwe.de is.

The return to Wilhelmstrasse cafeteria is not only a fresh start for the culinary offer, but also a return to the usual campus culture, which offers students the opportunity to meet and exchange. However, the changes in the slaughterhouse site raise the question of how the empty areas of the Shedhalle could be used in the future.
