This traditional event, which is under the motto "Together instead of lonely", celebrated its 50th anniversary this year. Agate Rechnitzer, at the age of 98 the oldest participant, enjoyed the company of the other guests while chatting with old acquaintances. The celebration started at 3 p.m. and offered a delicious menu that was prepared by the "life value" culinary kitchen, including roulades with red cabbage and dumplings. The participants were also able to look forward to a colorful musical program, which accompanied the afternoon with festive sounds of the Recklinghausen youth music school. Mayor Rajko Kravanja underlined the importance of the celebration and thanked the volunteers and donors who enable this festive atmosphere, such as Local compass reported.

The event attracts around 150 guests every year and, above all, offers single people, homeless and needy families, a festive home on Christmas Eve. Registration was not necessary, and in the event of walking disabilities, a pick -up possibility was offered. At the end of the celebration, buses from the Zeretzke family brought the guests back safely. This is an important part of the initiative, which should ensure that nobody is alone on this special evening.
