Eppstein is planning traffic turnaround: old town becomes the pedestrian zone!

Eppstein, Deutschland - in Eppstein it will soon be serious: from the beginning of 2025 the old town will be transformed into a traffic -calmed zone! Motorists who previously roared unabashedly have to prepare at walking speed. The city administration has developed a comprehensive concept to increase the security and quality of life in the old town. The citizens can be excited, because the plans will be presented on December 2 on the local advisory board and on December 19th in the city council.

Another hot topic is parking times! In order to meet residents and the shops, the parking time on Wernerplatz and Gottfriedplatz is limited to 30 minutes. In other parking spaces, such as in the old cemetery, cars can stand two hours. Mayor Alexander Simon emphasizes that the city police have to be reinforced to enforce the new rules. Parking is also restricted at night: a maximum of four hours are allowed to prevent residents from parking their vehicles overnight.

traffic calming and control

The measures aim to make the old town more accessible to customers and to reduce the speed of drivers. Simon explains that one -way streets are not the solution because they often lead to more traffic and thus to more pollutants. Instead, the traffic -calmed zone is expanded, starting at the parking lots next to the Talkirche to Poststrasse. Here it is important to move drivers through flower pots and signs to a slow driving style.

The concept is tested for a year initially, and if it doesn't work, it could be withdrawn. Eppstein is faced with an exciting change that will put both drivers and residents to the test! The city administration is ready to lead the old town to a new age of traffic safety and parking regulations.
