People in Bavaria celebrated the turn of the year 2025 with an impressive fireworks display that could be seen across the Free State. Colorful rockets moved to heaven everywhere, while a particularly large fireworks took place in Glonn, Upper Bavaria. It was also celebrated in Nuremberg, where the sky shone in various colors. After the celebrations in the cities, the weather stayed dry on New Year's Eve and let the festivities take place unhindered.

In the Nuremberg/Fürth metropolitan region, people experienced a great spectacle of light. There was also intensive fireworks in Bamberg, which moved many spectators to Alternburgerstrasse. Hundreds gathered to celebrate together. However, the massive fine dust pollution caused the view to be restricted after about 15 minutes. Also in the Bavarian capital of Munich, the new year was celebrated with a lot of fireworks, with the towers of the Frauenkirche as well as the church of Peter and the town hall emerged as visible landmarks.

In Munich there is a ban on fireworks in the pedestrian zone and on the Viktualienmarkt from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. the following day, which is justified by the security concerns due to the high number of visitors of up to 20,000 people in the old town. While sparklers and table fireworks are allowed, a firecracker ban on pyrotechnic articles with an exclusive bright effect is valid within the environmental zone of the middle ring.

The Hellabrunn zoo in Munich also asked for a waiver of fireworks in the area to protect the animals and the environment. On New Year's Eve, the animals that can switch between indoor and outdoor area remained indoors. Due to a ban on fireworks, a laser show was held in the city of Erding on Schrannenplatz, which started at 11 p.m. In addition, the security concept in Würzburg includes access regulations to the city center, where security service employees control access and ban glass bottles and fireworks.

In other cities such as Kitzingen, Volkach and Marktheidenfeld, fireworks bans in the old towns also apply. Ingolstadt declared its old town as a fireworks -free zone to protect the historic buildings and reduce the fine dust pollution. In the Allgäu, people traditionally welcomed the new year with cowbells and clamps to save waste and relieve the emergency services.
