Enigmatic painting: Discovery in the Wichmannsdorfer Café enthusiastic!

A fascinating lecture on November 22nd at 4 p.m. in the Wichmannsdorfer Café "Eigen-Art" will captivate visitors! The focus is on a breathtaking painting that is privately owned by Renate Gau. With a signature from the painter "Schmidt" it shows the majestic courtyard of the Boitzenburg Castle. But that's not all! On the back of the picture, a mysterious, unfinished motif was recently discovered, which puzzles.

A heir full of surprises

"We didn't know that," admits Renate Gau. The bright autumn image has been in its possession since the 1990s, inherited from her mother -in -law. Before that, it was in the "Chocolate House" on August-Bebel-Straße in Boitzenburg. "But it is much older," she emphasizes, referring to the history of the picture that was already found in the side wing of the old Sparkasse when her father -in -law lived there.

The Boitzenburg homestead, once home of the Nagel construction company, was significantly involved in the castle conversion in the 1880s. Therefore, a time of origin around 1900 is very likely for the painting. After years of wear and tear and the influence of smoking her mother -in -law, Renate Gau wanted to have the picture cleaned, which led to his restoration at the graduate restorer Gunda Oelmann. This will now present their exciting work and the discovery on the back and answer questions. Entry is free, but a pre-order in the "Eigen-Art" café is recommended.
