More housing benefit for Uckermark: 15 percent increase at the beginning of the year!

From January 1, 2025, citizens in the Uckermark district can look forward to a noticeable increase in housing benefit. An average increase of 15 percent is expected, as reported to the Uckermark Kurier . Marko Ulrich, the head of the Uckermärkische Social Office, explained that households that have already received housing benefit will benefit from this adjustment. This performance increase could also open up access to housing benefit for newly justified households. Ulrich recommends to carry out a proxy in the housing benefit office in order to clarify the individual claims.

The state grant is granted for rental housing and owners who have self -used living space. Around 2,000 households in the district currently receive housing benefit. The changes are the result of the legally prescribed adaptation and support the housing benefit plus reform of 2023, which should ensure that those affected are not dependent on additional social benefits due to increasing housing costs, as the Federal Ministry of Living, Urban Development and Building explained.
