In Templin, the discussion is boiling about the volunteer card! The city representatives feverishly consider how they can better reward citizens' commitment. A volunteer ticket for the Naturtherme is up for debate, but Wolfram Hoppe, a committed firefighter from the Uckermark, gets it in a nutshell: The conversations "go to nothing". Because the volunteer card in Brandenburg has existed since 2017, but its benefits are limited in the Uckermark. So far, only a few companies have joined as a partner, while in Berlin and Brandenburg there are already over 400 offers on the map!

Volunteer actively integrate

Hoppe suggests motivating the volunteers to apply for the card and at the same time gain companies that are willing to offer benefits. The volunteer card can be requested in writing, whereby the volunteer organization must confirm the application. The digital application via an app that is tested in Brandenburg is new. The card is valid for three years and is not transferable. The prerequisite is a commitment of at least 200 hours within one year without receiving compensation. Organizations can also collect applications for their volunteers.

Discounts for volunteers in the Uckermark

In the Uckermark, eight facilities already benefit from the volunteer initiative and offer attractive discounts! The multicultural Center Templin grants an accompanying person free entry, while the natural thermal bath reduces ten percent to the admission price. The Templin Kartbahn and the Dominican monastery also offer discounts. In total there are currently 150 volunteer card holders in the Uckermark, but the question remains: How can you increase this number and lead the volunteer card to success?
