Memory for peace: Memorial Day in Senftenberg ceremoniously celebrated

Senftenberg, Deutschland - A moving Memorial Day in Senftenberg! The commemorative event, which of Helga Schüler, the chairman of the Volksbund Deutsche Wargräberfürsorge e. V., and OSL district administrator Siegurd Heinze was organized, urged to remember the victims of war, violence and dictatorships. "We think of all those who were tortured or killed because of their conviction, religion or origin," emphasized the two organizers. At a time when conflicts are closer, the call to peace and reconciliation is more important than ever!

The event is accompanied by speeches by the Mayor of Senftenberg Andreas Pfeiffer and the Catholic pastor Udo Jäkel. The whole thing is musically framed by the music school of the district of Oberspreewald-Lausitz. A highlight of the commemoration is the leaning at the fallen monument for the victims of the First World War, where flower containers are laid down under drum rolls and the trellis of honor by Bundeswehr soldiers. "We would be happy if there are many interested time to commemorate with us," said Schüler and Heinze.
