Medicine bottleneck in Oranienburg: Diabetics is fighting for Trulicity

Oranienburg. A dramatic bottleneck in medication supply causes excitement! Type 2 diabetics Gudrun Sczesny has been there since July without her vital drug Trulicity. "In the past I could just go to the pharmacy and got it the next day," says the 66-year-old frustrated. But the reality looks different: there is no trulicity in Oranienburg and the surrounding area, and the desperate patient now has to drive from pharmacy to pharmacy and even fall back on online pharmacies.

The situation is unbearable for the pharmacists. "The condition is slowly no longer portable," complains a pharmaceutical. The defect affects all package sizes and strengths. Trulicity, which is also used to reduce weight, can no longer be provided in sufficient quantities. The demand has exploded in the past two years, and the manufacturer Lilly warns that the production capacities are not sufficient to meet the need. "We have not foreseen the demand," said press spokeswoman Katharina Bittmann.

Diabetics suffers from the situation

Sczesny is forced to spray a higher dose of trulicity than it needs. "I have to take the double amount now, and that affects my digestion," she complains. The 66-year-old is afraid of her health: "If I don't get a trulicity, I only have protein to eat." The uncertainty about the availability of the medication is enormous. "I'm still secured until January 2, but I don't know what comes afterwards," she says.

The pharmacist in Oranienburg confirms: "The supply is not ensured in Germany." Patients such as Sczesny are faced with the challenge of adapting their therapy while the manufacturer advises to contact the treating doctor. "It affects my well -being and possibly also my health," SCZESNY brings her anger and frustration to the point.
