Inclusion in the Havelland: special schools must now grow urgently!
Nauen. Experience a boom! The district not only plans to increase the number of students, but also opens the Falkenseer facility after seven long years. District Administrator Roger Lewandowski (CDU) confirms his support for these urgently needed measures. But what is behind this sudden rethink? Has the inclusion in the Havelland failed?
The increase in children with special needs is alarming! Lewandowski explains that the support procedures have increased after they had previously declined. Parents and schools are now increasingly calling for these procedures to secure the best possible support for their children. This development raises questions: What does inclusion really mean for the affected children? Is it really the right way to expand the special schools?
Missing inclusion concept of the state government
The answer is obvious: there is a lack of trained special educators and the necessary resources. Lewandowski sharply criticizes the state government. "The horse was bridged from behind," he says. Teachers who work with children with disabilities are faced with the challenge of creating individual support plans for up to 24 students - an impossible task without appropriate support! The spatial and financial hurdles are enormous.
Despite the challenges, Lewandowski is optimistic. He emphasizes that it is not only about special schools, but also a fundamental adaptation of society to the needs of people with disabilities. "Inclusion should not be perceived as something special," he explains. However, as long as the framework conditions in the regular schools are not correct, parents have to decide which school form is best suited for their child.
