Large control in Nienburg: Police reveals drugs and alcohol at the wheel!

The police inspection Nienburg/Schaumburg organized a spectacular large control on the ability to drive on Friday afternoon - and the results are shocking! In the period from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Nienburg on Verdener Landstrasse, the officials tested around 200 vehicles and paid particular attention to the drivers. A team of emergency services, including a service dog handler from the Göttingen police department and a colleague from Brandenburg, was on site to ensure that only sober and traveling people use the streets.

The controls followed an intensive training on the subject of driving ability, which, according to the police, is of fundamental importance for traffic safety. Drugs, alcohol and medication can drastically reduce reaction and represent a serious danger - not only for the driver himself, but also for other road users. These measures are part of the current traffic safety strategy of the Lower Saxony police, whereby the focus is greatly on training and further education.

and the balance sheet speaks volumes: In the case of five drivers, an index was found by narcotics, and the responsible persons were immediately initiated by criminal or administrative offenses. A road user with a breath alcohol value of 1.82 per thousand was particularly alarming - he will have to be responsible for drunkenness in traffic! In addition, a total of 59 traffic administrative offenses were found, including vehicles with an expired main inspection, as was the case with a car from 2021.

The police urge it: every driver should be aware of the risks that are associated with impairment of driving ability! Such actions not only serve the security in road traffic, but should also raise awareness of the serious consequences of drug and alcohol consumption- these controls are a clear signal! Be responsible and adhere to the regulations!
