Kölner Haie continued without victory: 1: 5 bankruptcy in Frankfurt horrified fans!
The Cologne sharks continue their downward trend in the German ice hockey league (DEL). The team lost 1: 5 last evening in Frankfurt, conceding the third defeat in a row. This series is already followed by narrow defeats against Nuremberg and Augsburg, which means a total of 18 goals in just three games. Trainer Kari Jalons is now faced with the challenge of getting the team back on course as soon as possible.
The striker Parker Tuomie calls the current situation "broken down" and that not only the goalkeepers are to blame. "This is also due to us. We are far too open," emphasizes the player, which is a clear indication of the defensive weakness of the sharks.
Kezzi and the changes in the team
In order to improve the weak performance, blalons when playing against the Frankfurt lions rely on the 22-year-old Niklas Lunemann in goal, although this has made many mistakes. Alons also had to adapt his ranks due to injuries and illnesses. The newcomer Juhani Tyrväinen made his debut in the DEL, which should be an important step for the sharks. Despite these changes, the sharks could not achieve the desired effect.
The first minutes of the game were a disaster for the Cologne sharks. In the first overpowering game of the opponent, the Cologne team left the Frankfurt far too much space, which used Daniel Pfaffengut for the 1-0 lead. The sharks left an unsafe impression and received another goal by Daniel Wirt in the 10th minute before Carter Proft scored 3-0 in the 12th minute. Jalons saw himself forced to change the goalkeeper and put Lunemann against Pantkowski. A dramatic step that underlined the urgency of the situation.
Schütz and the missed opportunities
The only bright spot for the Cologne was Justin Schütz, who shortened with a goal after a pass from Alexandre Grenier shortly before the first third break to 1: 3. But the motivation did not follow any further offensive initiative. The team let themselves take off the ball too often and lacked the necessary aggressiveness in a duel. Pantkowski held excellently a few times, but the deficit still grew.
In the last third, the sharks could not build up the necessary momentum to find back into the game. Markus Schweiger ensured 4: 1 of the lions in the 43rd minute, and Nathan Burns then 5: 1 in the 47th minute. The last spark of hope for the sharks was finally gone. On Thursday there is another crucial game against the Straubing Tigers, and before they return into the ice, the sharks have to work on their mentality and interaction.
