Frankfurt Book Fair 2024: Important information and ticket changes!
The Frankfurt Book Fair 2024 is approaching and for many literary fans this is one of the most exciting events of the year. From October 16 to 20, the fair will again attract visitors from all over the world to present new releases and interesting discussions about literature. However, this year there is a significant change for private visitors who have to secure their tickets in advance.
As the organizers have announced, private visitors must conveniently acquire their ticket online via the website www.buchmesse.de. This means that there will no longer be any cash register sales on site for these tickets. Buchmesse GmbH emphasizes that the number of available tickets for private visitors will be limited in order to make the visit to the trade fair more secure and more pleasant. In particular, the organizers expect the coveted tickets to be sold out quickly for Saturday. So if you plan to visit the fair, you should take care of a ticket in good time.
new ticket offer and prices
The prices for the tickets vary depending on the day of the event. A day ticket for Saturday or Sunday costs 28 euros, while a weekend ticket that enables the visit from Friday, 2 p.m. to the end of the fair is available for 52 euros. An afternoon embroidery for Friday costs 22 euros and is valid from 2 p.m. For pupils, students, pensioners, unemployed people, people with disabilities and some other groups there are reduced tickets for only 16 euros. In addition, children are allowed to go to the fair up to the age of 6.
The discount is a step to facilitate access to the book fair for a broader target group. Especially in today's world, in which many people are looking for new reading material, it is important that an event like this remains attractive for young and less wealthy visitors. In addition, private visitors must note that the journey by public transport is not free of charge and that corresponding tickets have to be purchased separately.
The design of the fair itself was also placed great. Last year there was essential feedback on organization, which was criticized in many social media because the halls were overcrowded on certain days. In order to minimize these problems, changes were made in Hall 3.0. The organizers have equalized with heavily frequented stands and improved the waiting management. In this way, the flow of visitors could be better controlled and the experience is more pleasant.
program and new event formats
This year Italy will be presented as a host country of the Frankfurt Book Fair. The program includes a large number of prominent authors and events, including readings, discussions and signs. The expected top-class guests include the science journalist Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim, the moderator Thomas Gottschalk, and Italian writer Roberto Saviano. The well -known children's book author Paul Maar and bestselling author Frank Schätzing have also promised their coming.
In addition, a new hall, dedicated for the "New Adult" literature, is introduced. Different events around the Genres Romance and Fantasy are offered here on 8000 square meters. This is a sign that the book fair also wants to take up the latest trends in the literature industry and want to address younger readers.
A unique feature this year is the “Meet the Author” area at the Agora at the Open Stage. Here fans have the opportunity to meet their favorite authors and get into conversation with them. While some signing lessons have special ticket requirements, no pre -registration is necessary for this area - simply hire and chat with the authors.
Visitors to the book fair can not only browse and inspire you, but also buy books directly. Many exhibitors sell their books at the shop price and often there is the possibility to be able to acquire works after readings.
The Frankfurt Book Fair is not only an important event for the book industry, but also offers a valuable exchange between authors, publishers and readers. With the new regulations and the extensive program, it is well equipped to meet the expectations of visitors and to offer an unforgettable experience this year.
The exhibition center is located in the Ludwig Erhard facility 1, in Frankfurt am Main. To get comfortably, the use of public transport is recommended. From Frankfurt's main train station there are several direct connection options to the fair, including the subway lines.
