Bad Liebenwerda: Health resort status successfully defended – a reason to celebrate!
Bad Liebenwerda remains a radiant health resort! The community in the Elbe-Elster district has successfully defended its status as a “place with peloid spa operations”. Health Minister Ursula Nonnemacher presented the official re-certification to the association mayor Claudia Sieber and the honorary mayor Johannes Berger on Friday. This award is not just a bureaucratic act, but a sign of the tradition and excellent therapeutic offerings of the city, which has been known as a spa community for over 120 years.
“Bad Liebenwerda is an integral part of Brandenburg’s rich spa landscape,” emphasized Nonnemacher, emphasizing the importance of the health resort. The MEDIAN Fontana Clinic, which specializes in the treatment of rheumatic and orthopedic diseases, plays a central role in this success. Natural remedies such as moor, which come from the region and help with diseases such as rheumatism and osteoarthritis, are used here. The clinic is not only a rehabilitation facility, but also part of a unique medical offering in Germany.
Proud of tradition
“We are very proud to have once again received spa town status,” said Johannes Berger. In January 2025, the city will celebrate its 100th birthday as a spa town and looks back on a long history. Claudia Sieber added that the reconfirmation of the spa town status is a positive signal for the region's tourism development. Bad Liebenwerda not only offers first-class spa facilities, but also numerous leisure activities such as the Lausitztherme Wonnemar and a salt cave.
There are a total of eight state-recognized health resorts in Brandenburg, and Bad Liebenwerda is one of the oldest. Recognition as a health resort is a complex process that places strict demands on the health offerings. With the renewed certification, Bad Liebenwerda shows that it is not only a city with history, but also a place that looks to the future and continues to focus on health and well-being.
