Cities Forst and Cottbus strengthen cooperation for Lausitz!
In a pioneering step, the mayor of Forst, Simone Taubenek, and the mayor of Cottbus, Tobias Schick, signed a cooperation agreement on December 10 that promotes more intensive cooperation between the two cities. The aim of this agreement is to master the current challenges of structural change in Lausitz together. As from Märkischer Bote , the cooperation includes ten priorities, including the promotion of business and settlement, skill in skilled workers and cultural exchange. "Together we are stronger and can promote economic projects more specifically," emphasized Taubenek in her speech.
On the same day, a significant political continuity was ensured in Cottbus: Mayor Marietta Tzschoppe and treasurer Dr. Markus Niggemann confirmed by the city councils in their offices, such as cottbus.de . Both achieve clear majorities, which indicates their popular office. Tzschoppe also remains the first deputy of Mayor Schick and continues to be responsible for urban development and construction, while Niggemann heads finances. This personal continuity is also intended to support the positive development of Cottbus', while the two cities want to work together in a number of projects.
In times when many regions are affected by restructuring, cooperation between Forst and Cottbus seems strategically sensible on both political and economic level. Both cities bundle their strength, which does not only contain opportunities for the local economy, but also for the creation of an attractive living environment.
