Cottbus starts Protection on site: A network for children in need!

Cottbus, Deutschland - The SOS Children's Village in Cottbus has launched an exciting new project: "Protection on site". This innovative project aims to offer children and adolescents immediate help in difficult situations. In the heart of the old town of Cottbus, where 12 shops from the Blechen-Carré and other partners are involved, a network of local partner shops such as pharmacies and retail stores is set up. These business should act as safe contact points where children can turn into a confidence in emergencies.

"We want to create safe places to which children and young people can contact if they need help," explains Lena Bange, the project manager. The goal is not only to create physical places, but also to train the employees of these business so that they can react correctly in critical situations. To find out where children feel particularly insecure, the SOS Children's Village carried out a rally with young people. The old town was identified as the ideal starting point for the project, not because it is particularly dangerous, but because many children spend their free time there.

call to partnership

The project actively searches for other partner shops that are ready to take care of the needs of children. "You just have to bring the willingness to help children in stupid situations," said Bange. Interested shops can contact SOS Children's Village directly by email or by phone. In the long term, the team dreams of an app that shows children where they can find help near them. "We hope that one day we can implement this," added Bange, emphasizing that the financing and development are still open. The “Protection on site” project sets a strong sign for child protection and shows how important the community is in this task.
