Polar bears in the water: Brave Brandenburgers start the new year!
On Sunday, the brave polar bears jumped enthusiastically into the cold Havel! Among them was also the unshakable Christina Werner, who lives her passion for winter bathing at the age of 57. It has been a member of the legendary group since 1981, which meets the Havel in the icy waters. When she discovered the winter bathers as a student, her enthusiasm was immediately sparked. "I often jogged to the grilling beach to be there," she says proudly. Despite her shift to the shift as a regular bus driver in Brandenburg an der Havel, she does not miss the joy of swimming and cycling.
The polar bears are not just a group of winter bathrooms; They are a community full of lively stories! The oldest member, the remarkable Erika Most, will soon celebrate her 89th birthday. This Brandenburg native is a real role model: she has lived in Havelstadt since 1945 and can look back on an eventful past. "I am very rarely sick," she says with a smile. In the 1980s, she even knitted 25 polar bear hats that were decorated with small plastic ice bears. Everyone will be determined by their determination and joie de vivre!
The New Year's Baden is just around the corner!
The next big highlight of the polar bears is the New Year's Baden, which will take place on Wiesenweg at 2 p.m. Here the group hopes to officially baptize two new members with the refreshing Havel water. The fun continues, because on the 2nd weekend in March it is invited to the grill damm - brave Brandenburgers are cordially invited to plunge into the icy floods!
The polar bears train regularly: every Tuesday and Friday from 3 p.m. and on Sundays from 10.30 a.m. An outlook on exciting, cold days full of community and adventure!
