New Year's Eve in Bernau: Together against cancer and for good resolutions!

New Year's Eve in Bernau: Together against cancer and for good resolutions!

On December 31, a traditional New Year's Eve run will be held in the Bernau city park. This sporting event not only attracts runners from the region, but also offers special motivation for many participants. Around 20 teachers from the “Sternekieker” daycare center will take part in the run to run together a marathon distance and to set an example against cancer. This action is inspired by the fact that the father of a daycare child was confronted again with a cancer diagnosis and had to give up his preparation for a marathon.

The teachers will wear light blue shirts with the inscription "Fuck Cancer - you lose this race" at the event. The starting signal for the New Year's Eve run takes place at 10 a.m. at the Stadtgärtnerhaus, given by Mayor André Stahl. Each participant has the opportunity to run as many rounds as they want, with the focus on fun and movement. Musical accompaniment will create a festive atmosphere during the run.

participants and culinary offers

A total of around 350 runners are expected at this event, which will run under temperatures of around 5 degrees. Mayor André Stahl welcomed the participants and gave the starting shot shortly after 10 a.m. He emphasized that the run is primarily geared towards community and fun, not for times or the number of rounds. He also expressed wishes for a healthy, peaceful and successful new year 2024.

To strengthen the runners, the city of Bernau offers a culinary offer with hot drinks such as tea and mulled wine as well as pancakes after the run. The media also reported on the event: the RBB was on site to record a weather contribution for the news program "Brandenburg Aktuell".

For the participants, you also ask to appear in running clothing, since no changing options are provided. The New Year's Eve run is a sporting end of the year and also inspires for sports resolutions for the coming year.
