Ahrensfelde becomes dementia partner: a strong sign of inclusion!

Ahrensfelde, Deutschland - Ahrensfelde full commitment to those with dementia! The municipality has now officially been certified as a "dementia-sensitive community" and is therefore part of the network of dementia partners. This was made possible by comprehensive training for administrative staff in cooperation with the German Alzheimer Society and the Lobetal Hoffungstaler Foundation, as reported Barnim Aktuell . Among other things, the training included recognizing dementia symptoms and dealing with those affected in order to create a respectful and supportive environment. Department head Marcel Becker emphasizes: "As a community, we are responsible for all of our fellow citizens." This initiative not only serves to raise awareness, but also to promote the topic of dementia in public.

Promotion of care on site

In addition, in February 2022, a comprehensive “care on site” project was initiated, which aims to improve the quality of life of people in need of care in Ahrensfelde. This project receives generous support from state budgets, as can be read on the official website of the municipality ( ahrensfelde.de ). The aim is to relieve the people in need of care and their relatives through various offers and information and to secure social participation. Monthly theme evenings, self -help groups and special training offers for relatives should help to cope with the challenges of everyday life around care and to enable a self -determined life as long as possible.

These two initiatives-the certification as a dementia partner and the “Nursing on site” project-underline the endeavor to create the endeavor of the community to create an inclusive and supportive community for people with dementia and their relatives. It is a crucial step to reduce barriers and improve the quality of life of this population group.
