Memories of the Spreepark: Art exhibition in the egg house!

Treptow-Köpenick. An exciting comeback of the legendary Spreepp is imminent! From Sunday, November 10th, the exhibition "Last pleasure" will open its doors in the egg house, and this until February 23, 2025. Here the memories of the once glamorous GDR leisure park will be alive, and visitors can look forward to an impressive collection of personal experiences and artistic representations.

The Spreepark, which fascinated generations, was closed in 2002 due to bankruptcy and turned into a ruin. But now, while the site is prepared by Grün Berlin GmbH for a gradual reopening, the exhibition offers a unique view of the past of this spectacular place. Visitors can expect a collage of photographs and artistic work that offer both humorous and critical perspectives on the history of the park and its stories from GDR times.

Kuratator Christian Hiller and the team of the Spreepark Art Space show works by artists such as Doris and Hinrich Baller, Constructlab, Christiane Eisler and Anselm Reyle. On the opening day, visitors are invited to take part in tours and to talk to the artists and contemporary witnesses. The exhibition is divided into three fascinating subject areas: "Welcome to Happiness", which addresses the Kulti, the former GDR culture park, "Park as a stage", which illuminates the diversity and freedom of the area, and "behind the scenes", which documents the construction and conversion after reunification.

It becomes particularly exciting by the mobile audio installation "Life under the Ferris wheel", which presents memory reports of former visitors. The exhibition is also actively looking for contemporary witnesses and its memorabilia to further enrich the history of the Spreepark. For all nostalgics and curious: admission is free, and the doors are open every Wednesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as every third Thursday of the month until 9 p.m. An unforgettable experience for everyone who wants to rediscover the magic of the Spreepark!
