The human rights organization Memorial will lead the participants over the impressive terrain, but will deliberately question the pompous representation of a victory. At this urgent place, memory of the thousands of deaths that are buried here is of great importance. The leadership focuses on various aspects of private and state memory in the Soviet and Postsovyetic region. Political-historical framework of the construction and the current instrumentalization of the location in the context of the ongoing Ukraine war are discussed intensively.
Why are Stalin's quotes survived in this place? These and many other questions are discussed on the interactive tour. Participants can exchange their own interpretations and discuss what the memory of these dark chapters in history enriches.
The event is part of a series of historical-political educational work in Treptow-Köpenick. It is particularly important to ensure that people with right -wing extremists or those who have noticed in the past through inhumane statements are denied access to the event.
