Sternsinger from Ennepetal in the Chancellery: votes for children's rights!
On January 7, 2025, Chancellor Olaf Scholz received representatives of the Sternsinger from all over Germany in the Chancellery in Berlin. Four girls aged 12 to 15 from Ennepetal represented the diocese of Essen. The meeting served the exchange on important topics such as the concerns of the star singers, children's rights, education and medical care. As part of the event, the participants wrote the Christian house blessing on the wall of the Chancellery. In total, more than 100 star singers from different regions were gathered in Berlin.
The campaign of the star singers, which will be carried out from December 27th to January 17th, 2025, is under the motto "Collect your voice! Stern singing for children's rights". This was launched in the run -up to the 67th nationwide Dreikönigssingen, which was opened on December 28th in the Cathedral of Paderborn. Last year, the Sternsinger were able to collect almost 46 million euros through their fundraising campaigns, which were able to do many parishes, schools and kindergartens, such as TAG24 reported.
background of the Sternsinger campaign
The star singers who pull from door to door sing songs and collect money, stand up for the rights of children in different countries, including in Kenya and Colombia. This commitment is also an expression of the desire for a safe growing up, access to education and medical care for children. The campaign is enjoying great participation, because tens of thousands of children, usually between 8 and 12 years old, are on the road in North Rhine-Westphalia. Hundreds of thousands of children are active nationwide to raise their voice for children's rights. Many groups are on the go on weekends to find more residents at home and bring the church blessings "C+M+B" into the houses, such as Radio Ennepetal
