Chocolate hype in Berlin: Dubai melange is conquering the city!
A new trend is enjoying great popularity in Berlin: Dubai chocolate. This specialty is currently available in both discount stores and chocolate shops and has piqued the interest of many chocolate lovers.
How berlin-live.de reports, food bloggers have started sharing recipes for homemade Dubai chocolate, while numerous cafes are offering Dubai-style desserts. Discounters like Lidl have also jumped on the bandwagon and are selling Dubai chocolate at attractive prices. Online, the price for a bar of Dubai chocolate is between 15 and 30 euros. Supermarket chains such as Rewe and Kaufland also carry the product, but at higher prices of around 10 euros.
Availability and demand
From December 16th, Lidl will offer the “MilanGo” brand at a price of 3.79 euros per 122 gram bar in over 3,250 stores in Germany. Customers have already reported frustration at the quick sell-out, and discussions about the chocolate's promotion and availability have broken out on Instagram. Employees in some stores mention insufficient delivery quantities as a cause of customer frustration.
For those who prefer an exclusive variant, a limited deluxe variant of Dubai chocolate is available in selected branches, with availability limited to 10,000 bars. This deluxe version costs 3.29 euros for Lidl Plus customers and is offered in two flavors – dark and whole milk. These boards are available in 20 selected branches in Germany, including special locations in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Munich, such as lidl.de added.
Dubai chocolate is produced under the Deluxe brand, which is known for the use of high-quality raw materials. The raw cocoa comes from 100% sustainable cultivation and is certified by the Rainforest Alliance.
