New Sitatunga-Jungtier Jala inspires visitors at the Berlin Zoo!
In the Berlin Zoo, many visitors enjoy the animal news, especially the baby hippo Toni and the Panda twillen Leni and Lotti. The new Sitatunga girl Jala, who saw the light of day in mid-November, also causes a stir. This birth was announced by the zoo on December 8 via Instagram.
Jala is already visible to the zoo visitors, but is often indoors due to the cold temperatures. Zoo spokeswoman explains that not all newborn animals can be presented immediately, since in large facilities with many animals there is a risk that the newborns will not survive the critical first days. Despite this challenge, Jala is doing well. On December 5th, another male Sitatunga calf was born, the name of which still has to be determined.
variety in the zoo
The Zoo Berlin emphasizes the variety of its young animals and their importance for the liveliness of the facility. Jala is therefore not in the shade of the other animal newcomers, but reflects the differences and the colorful wildlife of the zoo. The zoo endeavors to put both the newborns and the well -being of the animals at the center of its activities.
