New bike road in Wedding: Lynarstrasse will be rebuilt until the beginning of November
In the middle of the Wedding district in Berlin, the beginning of an exciting construction project is imminent: Lynarstrasse is converted into a bicycle road. The responsible district councilor Christopher Schriner announces that the construction work between the S- and U-Bahnhof Wedding and Tegeler Straße is expected to begin in the coming month and will be completed by the beginning of November.
The new bicycle road is part of the Kiezblock Sprengelkiez and will include a permanent blocking for motor vehicle traffic in the area of Sparrplatz. However, emergency vehicles and garbage disposal continue to have access. For better safety of the passers -by, the crossing areas are equipped with bollards and bicycle brackets to cross safely and ensure good visibility.
In addition to the construction work, the parking spaces will also be reorganized, so that vehicles can only park on the northern side of the street in the future. The sections of the road east of Sparrplatz can only be reached via Müllerstrasse, while the western sections can be approached via Tegeler Straße or the north bank.
The rules of a bicycle road state that they are reserved for cycling. Cars, trucks and motorcycles may only drive the road with legitimate concerns, as the additional sign "residents free" illustrates.
