Kita Treasure Kiste is modernized: New building plans provide discussion!

The kindergarten in Griedel, known as the "treasure chest", celebrates its 60th anniversary this year and urgently needs a new building. The Butzbacher Social Committee recently presented preliminary plans for the new building. These plans provide an estimated cost of 5.2 million euros, with property costs not included. The new building will include a usable area of around 1160 square meters and is to be built on the area of the previous container kindergarten.

The discussion about the new building started when the SPD applied for rethinking the construction and checking possible alternatives. This application received a majority in parliament while the CDU parliamentary group called for the application for the application. The UWG and the Left support the CDU, while the SPD, Greens and FDP voted for a direct commissioning of the magistrate.

The estimated construction costs also include the design of the outdoor area and possible future cost increases. The planned facilities of the new kindergarten include four group rooms, a movement hall, sleeping and social rooms as well as a "parent café". The foyer is equipped with a slide and an elevator. The new premises are 150 square meters greater than the new KITAT WELTENDADER in the core city.

In parallel to these plans, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new “Lustgarten” daycare center in Butzbach, which is budgeted with around 4.3 million euros. This daycare center is built in the wooden frame construction and is to be completed by the middle of next year. It is expected that the daycare center can be used entirely in the summer of 2023. The new building will offer space for four groups, including two groups for children under the age of three and two groups for kindergarten children from the age of three.

The "Lustgarten" daycare center is built on a property size of almost 2400 square meters, with a usable area of 1000 square meters. A roof terrace of around 120 square meters is also planned. In this building, great importance is placed on sustainable materials, with a wooden facade and linoleum floor. The heat supply is carried out by a combined heat and power plant in conjunction with the neighboring daycare center Villa Regenbogen. The interior design is currently in tenders, and the parking spaces and access are generously dimensioned to make it easier to bring and pick up the children.

The current developments in the new building of the “Schatzkiste” kindergarten and the establishment of the new daycare center “Lustgarten” illustrate the growing need for childcare places in the region. While the construction work is progressing, it remains to be hoped that the new facilities can meet the increasing requirements.
