Gössl in the crisis: over 13 million euros in debt and bankruptcy proceedings!

The traditional Salzburg costume company Gössl is facing a critical turn: On Wednesday, the management at the Salzburg Regional Court applied for two renovation proceedings without self -administration. The KSV1870 credit protection association illustrates the precarious situation with alarming numbers: the liabilities of the two companies-Gössl GmbH and Gössl Gwand GmbH-exceed the 13.6 million euro mark. A total of 190 as well as 75 creditors and 46 or 91 employees are affected. Despite these challenges, the company plans to continue its business and keep its business open, such as OE24 reported.

The current crisis did not come out of the blue. As early as mid-November, the management had pointed out the devastating effects of Corona pandemic and emphasized that the premature due date of bridging loans by the house bank contributes significantly to the financial difficulties. Delayed COFAG support payments and low sales due to changed buying behavior and the general energy crisis have further tightened the situation. The management explained that negotiations with the bank had failed to extend the runtime or a debt rescheduling, which the bankruptcy decisively contributed to, as well as in detail.
