Brand attack on Rostock bar: grief and solidarity in the scene!
In the Rostock Queeren Bar "B Sieben", numerous burned furniture and technical devices were removed after a devastating arson attack. The bar, which has been known as a safe retreat for the Queere Community for 16 years, was attacked for the second time within a few months, such as ndr reported. The attack caused an estimated property damage of around 110,000 euros. Andreas Szabó, the operator of the bar, expressed concern that the incident is a targeted attack on the queer community, even if there has been no evidence of queer -anti -queer motifs.
The police have now formed a seven -member investigation group to find the unknown arsonist. It is interesting that there was already a failed attack on the bar in September, which, however, went out more mild. However, the renewed attack has increased concern among residents and political leadership. As a sign of solidarity, the rainbow flag blew in front of the Rostock town hall on Monday, and numerous fundraisers were launched, including one that Nordkurier Documented, in which over 20,000 euros could be collected by Monday afternoon.
opening in the future?
Despite the immense damage to property, Szabó is optimistic and plans to reopen the bar until mid -February 2025. "We don't let ourselves get down," he explains, emphasizing the support he receives from the community and residents. A spontaneous solidarity demonstration was organized to set an example against anti -queer violence. In front of the window of the destroyed bar, a poster with the inscription "Stop queer hostility" was attached, which underlines the determination of the community to defend itself against such attacks.
