Leipzig in 4th place in the city cycling: Cycling is booming in the exhibition city!

Leipzig has had a lot of steps into the pedals in the nationwide city cycling competition and secured the strong fourth place! Around 19,000 enthusiastic cyclists covered an incredible 3.4 million kilometers in just 21 days. Only the metropolises of Berlin, the Hanover and Munich region performed better, while the Saxon state capital Dresden with 28th place and 1.5 million kilometers.

In the previous year, Leipzig was able to do a place better, more than 3.5 million kilometers were achieved. City bikes promotes environmentally friendly mobility and tells the impressive number of kilometers of every municipality. This year, 18 Saxon cities took part in the competition, an increase compared to only 11 in the previous year. However, the number of participants is relatively low compared to other federal states. For example, Rhineland-Palatinate mobilized 124 municipalities, while Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia mobilized 31 and 36 cities.
