Heating shutdowns in Saxony-Anhalt: rarity instead of crisis!
In Saxony-Anhalt there are only occasional cases in which tenants are parked the heating or warm water. The large energy suppliers of the region, including Stadtwerke Magdeburg, Halle and Wernigerode, report that they have not been able to record such cases in recent years. Compared to Berlin, the numbers in cities like Magdeburg remain low, according to the tenant protection association.
A spokeswoman for municipal utility Magdeburg explained that the actual closures of apartment buildings are extremely rare. What the tenants' payment problems are - be it due to the lack of rent payments, irregular payments by property managers or owners who do not meet their responsibility - does not matter. The German Tenants' Association in Magdeburg supports this view, since many problems can often only be solved by threatening a supply setting.
Uniform procedure for utilities
The Stadtwerke Halle also emphasized that all customers-from private households to large apartment companies-are treated equally. In the case of payment arrears, a delivery interruption can be threatened, whereby from the perspective of the providers, any delay also has an impact on tariff design and can therefore lead to higher costs for all consumers. Finally, it had happened in Halle that the heating and the warm water were parked in two residential complexes because the landlords did not do their financial obligations.
Overall, the Situation in Saxony-Anhalt continues to be viewed critically, but it remains to be seen whether these individual cases will be piled up in the future.
