Women at the top: the struggle for equality in German companies!
Women at the top: the struggle for equality in German companies!
In a recent survey, Austrians express concerns of concerns about their emotional health, whereby the "economic situation" and the "payment and working conditions" are mentioned as the most central concern. These factors are reduced in Austria 43.5 percent of those surveyed, which is significantly inferior in international comparison of 53.9 percent. In addition, the figures show that 44 percent of the population is often physically uncomfortable, a fact that is particularly strong in women - 63 percent report emotional discomfort, compared to 42.2 percent of men. According to the survey, a comprehensive need for better support in the healthcare system is increasingly loud, especially with regard to nurses, such as the Kleine Zeitung reported.
gender ease in management positions
A particularly relevant topic is the unequal representation of women in management positions within the private sector. According to current reports, women on the board members and supervisory boards of the DAX companies are still underrepresented. Although the proportion of women in these committees has increased in recent years - now 20 percent on board members and almost 37 percent on supervisory boards - gender parity remains a clear challenge. In late autumn 2024 there were only nine women on the board of directors and ten in the chairmanship of the supervisory board, as the DIW Berlin in its Managerinnen-barometer 2025 found.
The different experiences of men and women within the world of work often lead to a lack of advanced opportunities for women, especially in high -ranking positions. Inequalities in career opportunities and childcare are central hurdles that prevent women from achieving management positions, which in turn reduces representation in crucial committees. Stereotypes that characterize women as less assertive reinforces this discrepancy. Reporting on women in management positions shows a widespread tendency to reduce them more to care and team spirit, while men are more associated with professional competence and aggressiveness, which corresponds to the stereotypical roles in society.
